Introduction to the Breed

The Westeros Warmblood is an athletic sport horse who's ancestry can be traced back to the horses of medieval Westeros. After careful selective breeding, we are left with a strong and intelligent animal. The breed gets its strong and muscular build from the rugged horses of the Night's Watch, its grace and beauty form the elegant Parade Horses of King's Landing, and its athleticism and intelligence from the beloved Desert Horses of the Dothraki. While their lineages are superb, more modern breeds have been implemented to create the perfect sport horse.

Appearance

The breed was created as an elite competition horse with a strong and athletic build. They have muscular bodies and long, powerful legs. Their height ranges from 15 hh all the way up to 18 hh. Their heads are proud, muscled, and sit perfectly balanced on their thick, strong necks. They normally have large hooves because of their ancestors and are incredibly strong and resilient. Their manes are either kept long, short and pulled, or roached due to the thickness. Their tails are always kept long, and are braided up for driving and other tasks due to the thickness that is similar to their manes. All natural colors appear in this breed, as well as rare and unique mutations.

Temperament

Westeros Warmbloods are incredibly intelligent and proud animals. Their ancestors were ridden by knights into battle, making them very confident and courageous. They are normally calm, even under dire circumstances, but some sport the same hot characteristics of the modern Thoroughbred. They are brave animals, which means they can be headstrong. It takes a smart and careful rider to respect the horse's attitude in order to create an inseparable bond.

Common Usage

The Westeros Warmblood specializes in many English events. Their agility and strength make them excellent Dressage and Show Jumping horses, while their jumping form allows them to move into the Hunter ring as well. Their strength and intelligence allows for them to be used in Driving and Weight Pulling. Taking after their ancestors, the breed also excels in many medieval events as well. Their bravery allows them to be strong competitors in the Jousting ring. With the right rider, though, these horses can do anything imaginable under the sun.
